What’s that one thing that had a disproportionate influence on you?
If you tell me – ‘hey no, I don’t have anything that influenced me in that way’
I’d have to tell you that it is not right.
Either, you haven’t noticed it or simply not thought about this before.

We as human beings tend to operate with a dominant thought or a set of those thoughts. And this comes across in all that we do, how we deal with people, how we judge the world, and how we make choices,…
This dominant influence might not be a single belief or thought.
It generally is a mix of multiples.
And it most probably will be stacked up one on top of another.
It can come through books, people, experiences, movies, ideologies,…

You might be wondering about mine.
For now, it is ‘As within, so without’.
This is from the following quote.
“As above, so below, as within, so without, as the universe, so the soul…”
― Hermes Trismegistus
I simply put a lot of relevance to this thought.
I just believe that how I think will somehow reflect in this world.
And this thought helps me to think and do good, as I know that it’ll somehow play out in my life.

Now, if you think that most choices you make in your life are creating those not-so-great outcomes in your life, this post can help.
How?
Figure out what is your current thought thread to maneuver in this world. And if it’s not helping you, realize that it might not be the best.
And honestly try to change them.
Having thoughts that are not helpful is not our fault.
We have all gone through various experiences and they have shaped us into who we are today. Those beliefs gave us the imprints/map to traverse this life and the world.
The people around us have influenced us.
The environment we grew up in and live in has influenced us.
The past relationships might have scarred us that we have difficulty trusting anyone wholeheartedly.

We’re all crafted by our experiences.
And if they’re good, I’m glad, because you see the world in a net positive light.
And if they’re not that great, actively introspect and figure out the root cause. And try changing them by taking in wider perspectives.
If you think this is not required, you might walk through life hurting real-good people left and right. And those might be the ones who really care for you.
Once you realize this fact, you tend to see people in a new light. More than that, you don’t mind forgiving people.
I’m not talking about some other-worldly stuff here.
No.

I have seen this in people around me and in my life.
I have been on the sending and the receiving side of it too.
I truly believe that our life circumstances and experiences are majorly influenced by our thought processes.
Now, it is a big deal.
Why?
Because if you want to change your life for good, and live more positively, you’re in control.
But you have to be humble enough to understand that you yourself might be the one who’s creating your circumstances.
It’s a hard fact to accept.
But every change starts with accepting that something’s wrong.
And then do what’s required to change them.
In this case, use a wider lens to pull in more perspectives and experiences. And that’ll help you change your thoughts and the processes behind them gradually.

And this will ultimately make the lens through which we look at others and the world clear.
Being more open-minded is truly an underrated trait.
As a result of all this- you’ll see how things and circumstances change for you.
You’ll be in the same place with the same people, but experiences tend to change for the better.
You’ll be doing the exact same job that you’ve been doing for years, but you’d appreciate it more.
You might be having the same routine for the past few decades, but you’ll find more meaning in tiny moments of life.
The ultimate goal is to live more fully – it’s good for us, and it’s good for the people around us.
Hope you found this useful.
