“If you assume any rate of improvement at all, then games will be indistinguishable from reality, or civilization will end. One of those two things will occur,” Musk said. “Therefore, we are most likely in a simulation, because we exist.”
This is what Musk said in Joe Rogan experience podcast.

‘You see, Earthman, they really are particularly clever hyper-intelligent pan-dimensional beings. Your planet and people have formed the matrix of an organic computer running a ten-million-year research program . . .
– The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
As you can see, we have some similar thoughts in the book. Being fiction, the idea is propagated through a story.
‘The aircar rocketed them at speeds in excess of R17 through the steel tunnels that led out onto the appalling surface of the planet which was now in the grip of yet another drear morning twilight. Ghastly grey light congealed on the land.’
– The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy

We’re aware of Elon’s ‘boring company‘ initiative.
I just finished reading the book ‘The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’
It is a comedy science-fiction created by Douglas Adams.
I was thrilled by Arthur Dent’s experience on the legendary, mysterious Magrathea.
They had underground interconnected tunnels through which aircars traversed at lightning speed.
Not just that, the story takes us through space in a wonderful manner.
I loved the way the author has connected the puzzle he started perfectly.
Elon might have gotten some inspiration from this book.
Even though it is fiction, it gives a lot of ideas for someone who is crazy about space.
Let’s take Elon’s case.
He has mentioned multiple times that most of his inspiration and learning came from books. It fits perfectly with the idea I put out here.

So, what is the idea?
I love the fact that books and creativity can bring fictional ideas to life.
More than that, it sparks our inspiration mine. It sure did for Elon Musk’s inspiration.
Time and time again, we hear that reading is a great habit.
Once in a while, we hear that reading fiction is a waste of time.
That’s not true.
If Elon is not an avid fiction reader, we wouldn’t have seen some exhilarating ideas in real life.
Of course, there are tons of moving parts in the whole process. A major one is pushing through challenges when you don’t see light at the end of the tunnel.
Also, the right person needs to get these ideas for us to see.
Even then, we can’t miss the spark where it all started.

Coming back to why reading is important…
I just want to show you with an example – Elon Musk’s inspiration, how this habit has been a part of making innovations happen, to benefit all of humanity in one way or other.
I love to read and have experienced tiny sparks of inspiration once in a while.
But, I haven’t brought those sparks to life yet.
That’s a story for another day.
